My dad died from COVID-19 on October 25, 2020.
He was in a Fargo hospital, but a nurse informed me my dad was not alone, she was in there checking his vitals and with him when he took his final breath. He was unconscious and incubated and the next procedure would’ve been the tracheostomy, but sadly he died. He was in his early 70s but he still had ten or fifteen more years of life. He was part-time (retiring) employed at the time of his death. He drove himself to rodeo events and family gatherings and powwows. He was a well-respected elder and an enormous part of our tribal values, cultures and our Dakota language. He is extremely missed and never forgotten.
